Ullage
Where we build

A software studio in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Ullage is based in Montevideo and works with companies in Uruguay, Latin America, the United States and Europe. Uruguay runs on UTC-3 — the same working day as the US East Coast and a shared morning with Europe — and it has one of the region's densest concentrations of software engineers per capita.

Why Uruguay is a serious place to build software

Small country, unusually deep software sector: Uruguay has been exporting software for decades, has one of Latin America's highest rates of developer activity per inhabitant, and has political and currency stability that clients abroad notice when contracts run longer than a quarter. None of that is why you should hire us — but it is why the talent here is real.

Working with Uruguayan companies

Locally, most of what we build replaces a process someone is doing by hand: quoting, onboarding, reporting, reconciliation. The constraint is rarely ambition, it is that a full development team is out of reach for a company of thirty people. A six-week engagement with a fixed scope is not — that is the gap the studio exists in.

The time zone is not a detail

UTC-3 means a client in New York gets a full overlapping working day and a client in Madrid gets our whole morning. Compared with a team twelve hours away, the difference is not convenience: it is whether a question asked at eleven is answered before lunch or the following day. Over six weeks that compounds into weeks.

Remote, deliberately

We work as a distributed studio and do not receive clients at an office — the work happens in repositories, calls and written scopes, which is also how our clients abroad prefer it. If you are in Montevideo and want to meet in person, we will happily come to you.

Thirty minutes, in Spanish, with a written scope at the end. Even if you decide to build it in-house.
